"Leap of Faith" was one of the first songs ever written by Rock Solomon. It was a romantic gesture at age 18, nervously first performed to his love by the bedroom window of an old cabin overlooking the ocean. Later the story of this same romance would help inspire songs "Traveler" and "Return to You". This track features the voice of Matilda Clementine, Trumpet by Kenny Fradley and Violin by Brady "tip-top" Thomas.  Photo credit: Dominic Arizona Bonuccelli  Model:Katie Kirkland - Aerialist.

LEAP OF FAITH LYRICS:

you know what you want, you know you can have it

it's already there, you just have to grab it

you know what you want, you won't have to carry

all the past nightmares, won't seem so scary

leap of faith

it's a risky game

leap of faith

it's all loss or gain

the choice must be made and taken through

so never be afraid, set free what's inside you

go to a new life, and i will as well

promise me one thing, that you will free yourself from your cell

set free what's inside you...

The Story Behind "TRAVELER" is that Rock Solomon had gotten in trouble with the law shortly after falling in love for the first time. He went on the run for two years, and lived off the grid, heartbroken and depressed. He wrote "Traveler" while freelancing as a mover & living in an artist loft in Chicago with an ex lover, trying to forget his past.

TRAVELER LYRICS:

explore me, I dare you

discovering what scares you

try me, I'll take you

flying, then I'll forsake you

because I am a traveler with nowhere to go

just another traveler and I travel alone

I keep traveling, I cannot slow down

I can never return to a home town

I keep running, running to stay free

never let my past catch up with me

because I am a traveler with nowhere to go

Just another traveler and I travel alone

there is a woman with a heart of gold

an eden's fruit forbidden my secret untold

she loves me, but she does not know

I can't love her and now it's time for me to go

"She Says" was written in 5 minutes as a sarcastic retort to Ed, a neighbor of Rock Solomon's who claimed that his songs were all too depressing to listen to. Solomon wanted to prove that he could write something 'happy', but when he played this song a few minutes later, Ed replied, "Yeah, that's a good song, but it's kinda depressing".

SHE SAYS LYRICS:

It'll be okay, it'll be okay.

That's what she says.

That's what she tells me,

but that's not what I see.

The girl is a crime,

she's a girl of mystery.

I say what's on your mind?

She says don't ask me.

She walks in and I ask

Where she's been, and she says,

don't ask questions, then she says...

it'll be okay, just let it be okay?

The music for "Return to You" was written when Rock Solomon was 16, and the lyrics came a few years later. After returning home to face his legal troubles, he found that his romance had come to an end.

RETURN TO YOU LYRICS:

I'm coming home, tomorrow.

I'm coming home from far away.

My path is known, and I must follow,

I'm coming home to stay.

Been drifting too long,

I've earned my dues.

Now my time is done,

so I return to you.

So long to find my way,

and your loss burnt me through.

You cried when I should have stayed,

so I return to you.

And I tried to kill a love that blinds,

but your memory only grew.

And I failed but I can still try,

so I return to you.

And my heart became a burning effigy

for what I saw, and what I knew.

And I'm done loosing what's left of me,

so I return you.

Now I'm here, but this place is so cold.

Now I'm here, but where are you?

And now the truth has grown too old,

there's nothing to return to.

so here I leave you a scroll

to wish you well, and hope

that you'll fight for truth.

and someday when you grow old,

you know I'd still fight for you.

And I'd fight for you.

I'd fight for you...

"What Remains" is literally what remains from a recording of a song titled "for those who remain" that was corrupted in the studio and only a minute and a half could be salvaged. Trumpet parts performed by Kenny Fradley, and clarinet parts performed by Ronnie Pierce, aka "dad".

(Instrumental)

"Mismatched Tattoos" was intended as a quick written, sarcastic stab at a girl, but ended up more sympathetic. She was a daughter in rebellion of rich parents who put a 3 foot steel rod in her spine for scoliosis when she was a child. My little pony, the mark of the beast, and her ex-boyfriends name was some of her ink that inspired the song title.

MISMATCHED TATTOOS LYRICS:

She can taste so sweet, like candy.

My advice would be,

to watch for cavities.

She goes both ways

and she has a double standard.

Behind a gifted smile, lies a little bastard.

A hooked tooth pierces the smooth

muscle tissue around my heart.

Mismatched tattoos paint a picture,

and they're painted in scars.

A body length decision down her spine.

A childhood incision, a young life defined.

But teach yourself to walk again,

and when you find the courage,

you'll walk away from them.

A hooked tooth pierces the smooth,

muscle tissue around my heart.

Mismatched tattoos paint a picture,

and they're painted in scars.

The brighter the picture,

the darker the negative.

And everyone has opinions

on the ways we should live.

But teach yourself to walk again,

and when you find the courage,

you'll walk away from them.

Walk away...

A hooked tooth pierces the smooth

muscle tissue around my heart

mismatched tattoos paint a picture

and they're painted in scars.

They're painted in scars.

They're painted in scars.

mismatched tattoos...

mismatched tattoos...

mismatched tattoos,

paint a picture...

...around my heart,

mismatched tattoos.
